What is Derby Days?

Derby Days is an international philanthropy event sponsored by Sigma Chi. Each day for a week there is a different event along with the traditional derby hat chase. Each brother wears a derby and whichever team successfully steals the derby wins points for their team. The hilarity that ensues makes this week one of our favorite events. Ask anyone who has participated in derby days, and they’ll tell you how much fun it is. A long honored tradition at Sigma Chi, this weeklong party is a great chance to meet the brothers of the Sigma Chi fraternity.

Traditionally a team consists of 8-12 girls and 2 brothers. Each team is competing against each other for the coveted derby days title. There are nightly events usually lasting around 2 hours. Winners of these events as well as other tasks then receive points. The first place team will earn a special reward and favoritism at future Sigma Chi events.
